This website uses cookies
Read our Privacy policy and Terms of use for more information.
Effective date: July 15, 2026
This policy applies to personal information collected by WaarMoto through:
The waarmoto.com website and any subdomains we operate;
Our newsletter (currently World ADV Dispatch) and any transactional or promotional emails we send;
Forms, comments, replies, surveys, or messages you submit to us;
Direct communication with us at [email protected] or other WaarMoto-controlled email addresses;
Our social media pages when they interact with the above (for example, when you subscribe from a link posted on Instagram, YouTube, or Facebook).
This policy does not cover websites, platforms, or services operated by third parties, even when we link to them.
Name of the organization behind WaarMoto: 2592133 Alberta Inc.
Registered province: Alberta, Canada.
"Personal information" means information about an identifiable individual — for example, your name, email address, IP address, browsing activity, or any information that could reasonably identify you when combined with other data we hold.
Personal information does not include business contact information used solely for communicating with you in a professional capacity, or information that has been fully de-identified or aggregated.
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter, contact us, or reply to an email.
Name or first name — if you choose to provide it when subscribing or writing to us.
Message content — anything you write to us by email, in a form, in a comment, or in a reply.
Preferences — the topics, cadence, or newsletter sections you tell us you'd like to receive or exclude.
Device and browser data — browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size, language.
IP address and approximate location (typically city / region / country level).
Usage data — pages viewed, referring URL, time spent, clicks, scroll depth, session duration.
Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 8 below.
Delivery and engagement data — whether an email was delivered, opened, and which links were clicked, using standard email tracking pixels and wrapped links.
Email client and device — where reasonably detectable from the email interaction.
Bounce and unsubscribe events.
If you subscribe or interact through a social media platform, embedded form, or referral partner, that platform may pass us basic personal information (such as your email address and, where you have consented on that platform, your name).
We do not knowingly collect financial account numbers, government identifiers, health information, or information about children under the age of 13.
We collect and use personal information only for the following purposes. If we ever want to use your information for a materially different purpose, we will ask for your consent first.
Deliver the newsletter you signed up for, including confirming your subscription, sending each issue, and responding to your replies.
Personalize content — for example, tailoring which sections we feature based on aggregate reader interest.
Improve waarmoto.com and the newsletter — measure which articles, sections, or issues are useful; fix bugs; understand how readers navigate the site.
Communicate with you — reply to your emails, questions, and feedback.
Send occasional service messages — for example, account or newsletter changes, security notices, or updates to this Privacy Policy.
Meet our legal, regulatory, and accounting obligations in Alberta and Canada.
Protect WaarMoto, our readers, and the public from fraud, abuse, or misuse of our systems.
Under Alberta PIPA and PIPEDA, we rely on your knowledge and consent to collect, use, and disclose your personal information, unless an exception under those laws applies (for example, an investigation of a legal matter, an emergency, or where the law otherwise permits or requires it).
Depending on the circumstance, consent may be:
Express — for example, when you check a subscribe box, click a confirmation link in a double opt-in email, or reply "yes" to a permission request. We rely on express consent for our newsletter under CASL.
Implied — for example, when the purpose is obvious from the context of the interaction (such as replying to an email you sent us), and the information involved is not sensitive.
You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. See Section 10 (Your rights) and Section 11 (How to unsubscribe).
We do not sell, rent, or commercialize your data.
We share personal information only in the following limited situations:
We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate WaarMoto. Current or typical providers include:
Beehiiv, Inc. (United States) — newsletter delivery, subscription management, website hosting for waarmoto.com, and reader analytics.
Website analytics — aggregated site usage measurement (via the analytics tools offered through our newsletter and hosting platform).
Email infrastructure — email sending, deliverability, spam filtering, and bounce handling used by the platforms above.
Cloud hosting and content delivery used by our platform providers to store data and serve pages and images.
Some of these providers are located outside Canada, which means your information may be processed in other jurisdictions. Please see Section 7 for details on cross-border data transfers.
If you leave a public comment, review, or post on social media, that content is publicly visible.
If WaarMoto is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such material change.
We may disclose personal information when we reasonably believe it is required to:
Comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or legally binding request from a government authority in Canada;
Enforce our Terms or other agreements;
Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues;
Protect the rights, property, or safety of WaarMoto, our readers, or the public, consistent with Alberta PIPA and PIPEDA.
Some of our service providers — including Beehiiv — are located in the United States or other countries, which means your personal information may be stored, processed, or accessed outside of Alberta and Canada.
When personal information is handled outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, which may not provide the same level of protection.
We take reasonable steps to ensure that any service provider handling personal information on our behalf provides a comparable level of protection through:
Written contracts that require the provider to use the information only for our specified purposes;
Confidentiality and security obligations;
Notification obligations in the event of a breach.
If you would like more information about our cross-border data handling or specific service providers, contact us at [email protected].
We (and our service providers) use cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies on waarmoto.com and inside our emails to:
Keep the site working (essential cookies — for example, remembering that you are already logged in or have already dismissed a banner);
Measure aggregate site and newsletter performance (analytics);
Remember your preferences;
Support subscription forms and referral tracking.
You can:
Set your browser to refuse or delete cookies;
Turn off images in your email client, which limits open-tracking pixels;
Use privacy tools or extensions that block tracking.
Some features of waarmoto.com may not work correctly if essential cookies are disabled. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles across unrelated websites, and we do not currently sell advertising on waarmoto.com.
We keep personal information only as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Typical retention:
Newsletter subscribers — for as long as you remain subscribed, plus a reasonable period after you unsubscribe to honour your unsubscribe request, prevent accidental re-subscription, and meet CASL and tax/records obligations.
Email correspondence — for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and, where applicable, to keep a reasonable record of the exchange.
Website analytics — usually in aggregated or de-identified form, or for a limited retention window set by the analytics provider.
When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy, erase, or anonymize it.
Subject to some legal exceptions, you have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you;
Correct or update personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
Withdraw consent to further collection, use, or disclosure (this may affect our ability to keep sending you the newsletter or otherwise interact with you);
Ask us how we use your information, who we share it with, and how you can challenge our compliance with Alberta PIPA and PIPEDA.
To make a request, email [email protected] with enough information for us to verify your identity and understand what you are asking for. We aim to respond within 30 days, in line with Alberta PIPA and PIPEDA timelines. If we need more time or cannot fulfill part of your request, we will explain why in writing. There is no charge for a reasonable access request. If a request is unusually complex or large, we may charge a modest fee and will give you an estimate first.
Every issue of World ADV Dispatch and every promotional email we send includes a working unsubscribe link at the bottom, as required by CASL. You can also unsubscribe or change your preferences at any time by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Unsubscribe."
We honour unsubscribe requests promptly and no later than 10 business days, as required by CASL.
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. This includes:
Transport encryption (HTTPS) on waarmoto.com;
Access controls on our newsletter platform and administrative accounts;
Selecting service providers who commit to industry-standard security practices;
Limiting who inside WaarMoto has access to subscriber data.
No system is perfectly secure. If a privacy breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to affected individuals, we will notify them and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as applicable), as required by law.
WaarMoto is intended for a general adult audience of adventure motorcycle riders and enthusiasts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
waarmoto.com and our newsletter may link to third-party websites, videos, articles, product pages, or social media posts. Once you leave waarmoto.com or click through from our emails, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with any personal information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, our service providers, or applicable law. When we make a material change, we will:
Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page; and
Where reasonable, notify subscribers by email or through a notice on waarmoto.com.
Your continued use of waarmoto.com or continued subscription to World ADV Dispatch after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy. If you do not agree, you can unsubscribe at any time using the mechanisms described in Section 11.
